October 2015

President’s Message, Paulette

Fall is definitely upon us. Our calendars are filling up and the Winter Holidays are just around the corner. It seems that AAUW women are busy women. Boredom is not our “thing”. Thank goodness!
The AAUW Funds Committee is planning the Fall Luncheons. We are invited to celebrate and honor our 2015-2016 California Fellowship and Grant Recipients. The time is from 11:30 to 3:00 p.m. on October 18. The Southern California event will be at the Marriott Hotel in Irvine. The deadline for reservations is October 6. The cost is $40 a person.
I went to the Funds Committee luncheon last Fall. It was lovely. The food was special, the speakers were California Fellowship and Grant Recipients and how great it is to visit and mingle with AAUW women from all over Southern California. You can make reservations at www.aauw-ca.org or you can mail your check payable to AAUW CA to: AAUW-CA, 1331 Garden Highway, Ste. #100, Sacramento, CA 95833. I will make copies of the Reservation Form. Let me know if you would like one. I would also like to pick you up on the luncheon date and we could travel together.
Remember that our October 15th meeting will be at Cerritos Park East at 6:30.
Hope to see you there.

Fashion Show Update, Barbara Dunstan

The first basket making meeting was very productive with over 30 baskets partially made. The next meeting will be at Barbara Dunstan’s home on Wed. Sept. 30th at 10:30 am. Large baskets and various items such as: wine, CDs, DVDs, Books, gift ware, wine glasses, vases ,etc. are still needed. Call Barbara if you have these items to donate. The tickets must be sold about a week prior to the event (about 11/16) so give your money to Thea as soon as possible. Help is still needed the day of the event for transporting baskets to the hotel, registration, setting up the silent auction & opportunity drawing items, runners for the silent auction, help with the stage decorations. Please tell Barbara D. if you can assist in any of these areas. Thank you.
