Happy and Healthy New Year!!!!
December is just a memory now. Our Fashion Show was a wonderful event. Our Christmas Party was a great one.
Now it is on to the New Year. Now we get to select the students who will be awarded our scholarships and plan the presentation ceremony. A group of good meetings have been planned. We still have much work to do to insure that girls and women have the chance to be the best that they can be. And we will enjoy the fellowship of the wonderful group of women that are the La Palma Cerritos AAUW.

We hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season! Happy 2016 to each and every one of you! Thank you all very much for the toiletries collected for the Union Mission and the wonderful gifts for Su Casa! Everything was very much appreciated!
Our January program, “People in Crisis”, will be presented by a panel of speakers from Illumination Foundation, Micah’s Way, and Su Casa. Each organization offers assistance to individuals and families in crisis whether it’s a need for food, clothing, shelter, medication, completion of education, etc. There is much to be said about the invaluable resources that are available via these three humanitarian focused organizations.
AAUW Funds, Barbara D & Gail W
Thank you to all who helped with Barnes & Noble gift wrapping. We made over $940 for donation to AAUW Funds.
We would like you to put two dates on your calendar.
The first one is January 22nd. We are having a fund-raiser at the California Pizza Kitchen at the Cerritos Mall. Attached is the flyer for you to help us pass out, just by sitting in your warm homes and using your computers. You can forward this to your all friends and family, and encourage them to forward it to others they know. As you know we have to have a flyer when we go there OR you can have it on your phone to show the servers if you do not want to print out the flyer (flyers will also be made available at the January meeting which is the night before this event.) If you have a Facebook or any other social media outlet, please feel free to post on there as well.
The second date is February 20th, for our annual Funds Luncheon. We are changing it a little this year, and our speaker is wonderful! She is Shannon Cholakian. Shannon went to NCCWSL in 2014. She was also the guest “speaker” for a CA Online Program. More information will be forth coming after the holidays.
